The Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences is a leading research center dedicated to advancing geophysical sciences (hydrology & hydrodynamics, atmospheric physics, polar and marine research, seismology and Earth magnetism). We conduct cutting-edge research, monitor natural phenomena, and develop innovative solutions for science and industry. Committed to education and international collaboration, we support young scientists and specialists while tackling global challenges like natural and antrophogenic hazards.
IG PAS coordinates the whole project and leads dissemination, communication and exploitation activities in the project. Scientific expertise includes glacier mass balance, snowpack processes, hydrological modelling, the interactions between hydrosphere and permafrost, and the impact of climate change on water resources and hydrological processes. IG PAS runs the Polish Polar Station Hornsund in Svalbard, assuring access to long term glaciological, snow and meteorological observations in Svalbard.
