University of Oslo, Department of Geosciences
country: Norway

The Department of Geosciences at the University of Oslo is among the leading earth science departments in Europe and hosts a wide range of disciplines, both in terms of research as well as in education. Subjects cover physical geography, geology, geomatics, planetology, hydrology, meteorology and oceanography. A strategic focus is on earth surface processes in cold environments, especially related to the cryosphere, i.e. snow, glaciers and permafrost.
The University of Oslo group contributes to populating the observation database of LIQUIDICE with in-situ datasets. The main activity will be in further developing process-based modelling tools to better assess future changes in the cryosphere and the associated impacts on meltwater runoff.
